Building Preparation and Safety

  • Cloth facial coverings will be worn by everyone while inside the building.
  • Only one person in the lift or stairway at a time.
  • All Bibles and hymnals will be removed from the pews. We will not hand out bulletins. People may bring their own Bibles.
  • The pews will be marked to indicate where people may sit to facilitate appropriate social distancing. People who live in the same household may sit together.
  • Offering plates will be located at the front and back of the sanctuary for people to drop their offering into. The plates will not be passed.
  • Microphones will be cleaned after each use, and will not be passed around.
  • We will not have communion at this time.

Before all worship services (In addition to the regular weekly cleaning) , using appropriate disinfectant, the following surfaces will be wiped down:

  1. Bathroom fixtures and handrails
  2. Door knobs and handles
  3. Light switches
  4. Railings

After each worship service, using the appropriate disinfectant, the following surfaces will be wiped down:

  1. The pew areas where people sat.
  2. The pulpit area, computers, and microphones
  3. The keyboard
  4. The soundboard
  5. Railings
  6. The bathrooms
  7. Door knobs and handles
  8. Light switches

The Following Activities will NOT be Allowed in the Church Building Until Further Notice

  • Sunday school (We recommend that parents bring items to entertain their children, as we cannot safely provide toys, coloring books, etc.)
  • Outside groups and organizations
  • Bean suppers
  • Fellowship time before and after worship (we encourage fellowship outside, using proper social distance, and a mask.)
  • Eating and drinking (this cannot be done while wearing a mask, and could present additional challenges for safe food serving)
  • No congregating downstairs or by the doorways. Upon entering the building, please proceed to the sanctuary or to the area where the meeting is to take place.

Procedure for Sunday Mornings

  • Socializing outside is encouraged. Please keep six feet apart and be considerate of others. Wearing a mask is a wonderful extra protection to keep your friends safe.
  • While we want you to enjoy one another’s company, please do not hug or shake hands.
  • Do not congregate in front of or beside the door.
  • Please enter through the “side” door (the one facing Groveville Road), one at a time. You must wear a mask, and sanitize your hands upon entering.
  • One of the deacons will direct you to the sanctuary. Please proceed immediately, either up the stairs or on the lift, one at a time so as to keep appropriate social distance. (Note, you can use the bathroom first if you need to. J)
  • You will be greeted upstairs by another deacon, who will direct you to a seat. Please sit promptly, so others can safely enter the sanctuary.
  • We will not use the pew Bibles, hymnals, or bulletins. The words will be projected on the television screen and the wall.
  • Windows will be opened as weather permits.
  • Please keep your mask on at all times during worship.
  • When the worship time is over, we will dismiss people individually, starting from the back row and working to the front. Please use hand sanitizer on the way out.
  • Do not congregate downstairs. Please go immediately outside (unless you need another bathroom stop J). You may socialize outside.

When you enter the church building (this applies to everyone, regardless of when or why you are ente

  1. Do not come if you are sick. COVID-19 symptoms include: cough, shortness of breath, fever over 100.4 F, chills and body shakes, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell. If you experience any of these symptoms please stay home.
  2. Wear a cloth face covering/mask. We get it. Masks can be hot, uncomfortable, and fog up your glasses. But we want you to wear one, and keep it over your nose and mouth at all times while you are inside the building. We know that masks don’t protect you that much. But they protect other people by keeping your germs from spreading through air and landing on surfaces or being breathed into a neighbor’s lungs. Even if you feel fine, you could be carrying the virus. In fact, many people spread the virus before they develop symptoms. Even if you are sitting or standing six feet away from another person, we still want you to wear a mask. There’s growing evidence that the virus can spread across wider distances indoors, especially when people are together longer than a few minutes. If you can’t or won’t wear a mask, please continue to worship from home.
  3. Sanitize your hands. Hand sanitizer is located on the table as you enter the building through the “side” door, as well as in the entrance of the sanctuary.
  4. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds after using the bathroom. (Hint: if you sing "Happy Birthday" twice, that is about 20 seconds.)

When you leave the church building

If you are the last person leaving the building, please spray disinfectant on any surfaces you or others touched or used (bathroom, door handles, light switches, chairs, and railings).
